I’ve been annoyed since June the second 1931 By people doing everything but what they should have done The silly careless idle stupid eejits failed to act Or faffed about so foolishly they ought to have been sacked
I don’t forget the culprits or the when and where and what They think it’s fine as long as they’re repentant no it’s not The Queen and I saw every kind of nitwit come and go I don’t take any nonsense now I’m 92 you know I use a little boxing glove it’s red and on a stick For when I hear excuses or a person’s being thick Not everyone can help it all the same I don’t forgive I’ll magnify their heinous misdemeanours while I live Or possibly on June the second 2031 I might give out some pardons if the King agrees to come
Postscript: an email conversation between the author and the subject of 'The Royal Pardoning Party': Author: If you remember, I asked you for a topic and you suggested 'things that annoy me'! Feel free to suggest changes now and tell me if the rhythm seems wrong anywhere. Subject: I agree with you. But wait till you come and see how really grumpy I can be when people annoy me .You know I have a long list.. No news here so speak tomorrow . Love Mum ,
I love this poem Gill! It reminds me of someone I know.
