Dear reader you deserve some art there's no remuneration
For all your time and being such a source of motivation
A poet may not tell you but they crave appreciation
And likes and comments dignify a frivolous creation
So I thought I'd paint a picture every time as compensation
But faltered in the fight against advanced procrastination
The year began with great resolve and brief determination
But poems still appear without a hint of illustration
Below are 2 corrected posts to view no obligation
I've added mad cartoons to them by way of explanation
The one about the funny side of finding inspiration
And that one on the twilight for your further education
Would those who think cartoons should go please send that information
But wait if verse with art becomes a standard expectation
Well that’s a different bag and quite a frightening situation
I’d need to gather data from a survey of the nation
And then my fans and I might have to have a conversation
The Usual Nonsense
I've had an unusual idea It suffers from various flaws I got it last week in IKEA And it doesn't have teeth in its jaws There's a plan it's in Greek and rotated I'm missing screws 2b and 4 I thought I had got it inflated Then it sighed and collapsed on the floor The bones of it need some more padding The concept is basically cracked Still it looks pretty smart in its cladding And I thought it was fun when it quacked
Sun Timetables
I see from these tables of darkness We’ve 16 long hours to get through But look it says here there are also 3 levels of twilight who knew
That the sun loiters under horizons At the first and the last of our light And lobs a few rays that are extra And lengthen your day well they might Astronomical twilight is darkest The stars not the people are bright You wake astronomically sleepy Who's ready to give up their night
The second is Nautical twilight You navigate seas in a boat Get lost between sunrise and sunset Feel sick and just keep it afloat
Level 3 we are told is called Civil You reach full politeness at dawn If you meet someone chatty and sprightly Smile tightly and stifle a yawn Some fine cloudless dusk in December Stay out till the twilights are gone And see if the people stay civil Or won't put their fairy lights on
Well hello and salutations!
There were no abbreviations,
No commas or exclamations,
But a glorious host of ‘ations’ –
( well done for using so many!😊😊😊)
Thank you – you could have done it yourself in a fraction of the time!
