A Bit of Glamour is a Human Right

The serious need for dangling janglies
Once basic needs are sorted out
The next ones can be thought about
Theatricals, uplifting art
Philosophy and apple tart
Flamenco dancing, jokes and songs
Debates about the rights and wrongs
Of how the basic needs are met
Of those who haven’t got them yet
And how when those are sorted out
The fun things will be brought about

And what is life if full of care
You don’t find joy in what you wear
Coordinate accessorise
Pat purple powder round the eyes
Stud hair with bright enormous clips
And dangle janglies round the hips
Wear perfume that you used to know
And love some happy time ago
To smile about your jaunty hat
There’s no more basic need than that
