Those for you and these for me
and that’s my pile for others
who sprang to mind in sections like
Catastrophes and Mothers
They ought to be delighted
with an unexpected gift
that fits their doubtful taste or skill
and my desire for thrift

I saw this guide to grammar
so I thought about Denise
and Mike will like a diet
taking pressure off his knees
There's Etiquette and Manners
Better Hygiene several shelves 
It's self-improvement how to help
your friends assist themselves

I still have some who need advice
on style and being fetching 
and one who’s clearly gasping for
a guide to better sketching
For two who want a hobby
I’ve Suggestions on Religion
and Racing where it says you only
need a healthy pigeon 

I’m going to keep this dusty tome
called 50 Classic Spells
that nestled near the toilets
casting out the evil smells
The cover shows a coven
with a cauldron and a bat
I wonder if my friends suspect
I might be pleased with that
