Fairy
Artist’s impression
Because it was your birthday Liz
I've tried to draw your face
I don't have skills and always use
A photo print to trace
Or else the tricky parts go wrong
The mouth the eyes and nose
The cheeks and chin the brows and ears
And other things like those
I’ve made a ghastly image now
Teeth bared eyes wild and scary
So nobody would guess you have
The features of a fairy
It’s just a start I’ll fill it in
And rub it and revise it
Give up and glue your photo on
Or otherwise disguise it
This portrait like this poem here
Gets worse with every change
My life is wrecked by pencil marks
I'm doomed to rearrange
I've persevered for 7 days
The Earth was made by then
Now God says don't things turn out strange
Let's both start again

Thank you, kind and talented follower! My bottom needs a rocket ( see last line of ‘On Joining the Urban Sketchers’ 🤣 )

Excuse me, but you DO have skills, You use them all the time. you know the rubber cures all ills, And messes turn out fine.
Remember Rome took many a year To build, and then some more, So pen in hand you need not fear, Keep on, make pics galore!
You did a good one of your mum, And caught that baby too, You always think your work is rum, Its not, I’m telling you!
So dry your tears, no rants Don’t fret, you CAN paint cute And sweetly startled infants, If not there’s always fruit…
